Growing Vegetables without Seeds

This is the time of year that many of us are germinating seeds for our gardens. There is another way to grow some vegetables and use some kitchen scraps. You can propagate some by rooting them in water or plant others shallowly in soil. For instance, chop off the root ends of green onions and place them in water. After a few days, new growth should appear which can be potted in a planter or in the garden. The butt end of a lettuce head, celery stalk, fennel, and bok choy can be planted shallowly in soil and they will resprout.
